Ways to work with me.
Starter site
A focused three-to-five page site for a small local business - fast, secure and built to get you found and contacted. Hand-coded, same as everything else here.
From £1,500
What moves it: pages beyond the first five, whether you need the words and photography written and shot, and booking or payment integration.
Project build
A defined scope, a fixed quote and a delivery date. Best for new sites, rebuilds and launches.
From £4,500
What moves it: overall scale, integrations with the tools you already run on, moving content across from an old site, and anything selling online.
Design & build retainer
A block of hours each month for continuous improvement - new features, experiments and content.
From £950/mo
What moves it: how many hours you reserve each month, and how quickly you need them.
Care & hosting
Managed hosting, monitoring, updates and priority support so your site stays fast and secure.
From £95/mo
What moves it: site size and traffic, how often you want backups, and how fast you need support to answer.
Questions people actually ask.
- How much does a website cost?
- A starter site for a small local business begins at £1,500, and a full project build with a defined scope begins at £4,500. Ongoing work is either a retainer from £950 a month or a care and hosting plan from £95 a month. Every project is quoted at a fixed price before any work starts, so the number you agree is the number you pay. Read more: What should a small business website cost in Scotland?
- How long does a build take?
- It depends entirely on scope, which is why I will not quote a timeline before understanding the job. What you do get is a delivery date agreed up front alongside the fixed quote, rather than an open-ended estimate that slips.
- Do I own the website when it is finished?
- Yes, completely. You own every line of code I write, along with your domain, your hosting account and your content. I build on open standards specifically so you are never locked in to me - if you want to take the site elsewhere later, you can. Read more: Who actually owns your website?
- Do you work with businesses outside Dumbarton and Glasgow?
- Yes. I am based in Dumbarton and regularly work with businesses across West Dunbartonshire, Glasgow and the rest of Scotland, and remote work further afield is straightforward. Being local just means meeting in person is an option rather than a special arrangement.
- Who actually does the work?
- I do, end to end. The person you have the first call with is the person who designs it, writes the code, ships it and maintains it. There are no account managers, no hand-offs and no subcontractors you never meet.
- Do you build on WordPress or a page builder?
- No. Everything is hand-coded in TypeScript and server-rendered. Page builders and plugin stacks are the usual reason sites end up slow, fragile and expensive to change, and they tie you to licences you have to keep paying for.
- Can I edit the content myself?
- Yes, if you want to. I can build the site against a CMS so your team can edit pages, posts and images without touching code. Plenty of clients would rather just send me changes, so it is worth deciding which you actually want before paying for the former.
- What happens after the site launches?
- Launch is not the end of the job. A care and hosting plan from £95 a month covers managed hosting, monitoring, backups, security updates and priority support, so the site stays fast and secure without you having to think about it.
- How do we get started?
- Send an enquiry through the contact page. I reply within one business day with initial thoughts and questions, then we have a 30-minute call to understand the goal properly, and you get a written proposal with a fixed quote and no obligation.
